We are in an ideal location for restaurants, bars, theatres, live musice and other forms of entertainment. We are in the Santa Croce and Duomo area, where gourmet restaurants and traditional trattorias provide you with quality local food and wine. We would be happy to assist you in planning a special dinner!

Rexcafè, a famous cafè and music venue in central Florence, is the closest to our bed and breakfast, located further down our street in Via Fiesolana.

Via de' Benci, next to Santa Croce Square, is full of cafés, pubs, and restaurants. It is one of the liveliest streets in Florence, crowded with international and local youth during the evenings.

The street that leads from Casa Rovai to the square of Sant'Ambrogio (famous for its food market) is lined with cafés for your evening “aperitivo” (cocktail): try Plaza Cafè in front of the Flea Market in Ciompi Square, or the Caffè Sant'Ambrogio, or else the elegant Caffè Cibrèo, with its delicious cakes. At the extravagant Teatro del Sale you can enjoy dinner and a show; famous for its excellent cuisine, excentric service, and quality performance art that ranges from tango, to acoustic music to theater!

When the warm season approaches, a lot of squares turn into open areas for live music and shows. Ghiberti Square, only 10 minutes on foot from the B&B, features its Las Palmas, outdoor restaurant and theater from June to September.

If you are looking for a romantic evening in Florence, we strongly suggest you stroll over to Piazzale Michelangelo, a breath-taking panoramic view point from a hill top that gives onto the enchanting Florence city-scape, with the Arno river and Firenze's impressive monuments. The Piazzale is reachable in only 20 minutes from our bed and breakfast.

The two main theatres are right next to B&B Casa Rovai. They are the Teatro Verdi and the Teatro della Pergola. When its off-season for the theater, their stages offer chamber music, rock concerts and dance shows for the musically inclined.

Have you ever dined in a rustic cavern while listening to live jazz? Cantina Barbagianni will provide you with such an experience! It is a fine restaurant very close to our bed & breakfast, with an outstanding dinner and wine menu, and Jazz sessions on Tuesdays.

And for those who can't get enough of shopping... the Santa Croce area is the ideal place for you: many historic artisanal shops selling handmade accessories and jewels, and vintage boutiques...

Looking for something more designer? The most famous brands (Gucci, Ferragamo, Prada, Valentino, Versace, Pomellato, Cavalli) are all in Via Tornabuoni and Via della Vigna Nuova, near Piazza Repubblica, a ten minute walk from Casa Rovai.

Should you wish to spend a full day shopping at a reasonable price, you could visit either of the Tuscan Fashion Outlets: Barberino del Mugello and/or Incisa Valdarno. Of course, we will help you with bus timetables and any details on transportation arrangements.
