of art while your children are participating in a workshop.
Our bed & breakfast is in the real center of Florence
so all the main museums, libraries and shops
are at walking distance.
One of the newest libraries in the city is the Biblioteca
delle Oblate,
with a breathtaking view from its terrace reachable,
in less than five minutes from Casa Rovai. This library
is equipped with a special children's area. Admission
is free.

Your children will really enjoy taking part in their
reading workshops
and manual activities related to books and funny stories! Libri
Liberi Bookshop: this nice
bookshop very close to San Lorenzo area has a small
theatre room where they offer shows for children.

Florence
State Museum offers at the Uffizi Gallery and
other museums material, guided visits and workshops
in Italian tailored to teachers and students at all
school levels,
as well as to families with children and groups of adults in education programs.
Museo
dei Ragazzi in Palazzo Vecchio, guided
visit, workshops, simulations led by young people and actors, through
Palazzo Vecchio and other palaces and museums. Discover a
funny way to know how life was in Florence during the Renaissance!
Bottega dei Ragazzi with
its 500 square meters in the Museo degli Innocenti in SS. Annunziata
Square,
children (age 3 to 11) are welcome to take part in more than 70 creative
workshops relating to Renaissance art, the history of Florence as well as
children's
rights. Staff speak English, French and Spanish. While your children will
enjoy the workshop with the Bottega dei Ragazzi, you will be able to admire
Florence
sites on your own.
Museo Horne offers
guided tours and worskhops for family groups. After learning about the works
collected
in the museum, chidren take part in a manual or creative activity
and adults can attend a very interesting lesson on Florence art history. We strongly
recommend these workshops. Admission is free.
Museo Marino Marini at
weekends only offers activities on contemporary art for mixed groups of adults
and children.
Fondazione
Palazzo Strozzi offers
special weekend workshops on the current exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi. For
children aged 3 to 12 and for families. The workshop is free and held in
Italian and English.
Florence is also famous for its fine tradition of museums
related to the world of sciences. The Museum
of the History of Science will lead you in a special guige tour through
the rooms of Palazzo Castellani by characters
dressed in 17th century costumes.
No reservation is required for the visit. It also offer four different
laboratories on occasion of 2009, the International Year of Astronomy.
Children will have
fun learning hot to make meteorological and astronomical measurements and
how
to use the astrolabe! Planetario,
would let children and families take part in educational activities.
