The frescoes of “La Lira”
This beautiful single room take the name from the neoclassical decor discovered on the ceiling. The Lira, the ancient instrument, dominates the quiver, the darts and triumphs of seasonal fruit with a beautiful chandelier of ‘900s in the middle.
According to Greek mythology, the Lyra was invented by the god Hermes, who gifted it to the god Apollo, who in turn gave it to His son Orpheus.
In the classical era the Lyra was the symbol of the Apollonian virtues of moderation and balance.
This ancient musical instrument is, even today, played in areas of northeastern Africa.
